The secret of Murano glass and the magic of ceramics
We present selected works whose beauty and fragility reflect both materials in an expressive way.
Both art forms are deeply rooted in history and culture. They have always played an important role in art and are often an expression of cultural identity, with unique shapes and colors that enchant through the interplay of earth and fire. Each piece tells its own story and invites you to appreciate the work of the respective artists.
Murano glass has a long tradition. The glassblowers of Murano have developed various techniques over the centuries, such as murrine (the insertion of colored glass pieces) and filigree (fine, decorative patterns). These techniques enable artists to create unique, sculptural works. Each piece is unique. The transparency, the vibrant colors and complex patterns, the play of light in the glass give each object a special elegance and lightness.
Ceramics has the same long tradition as glassblowing. Ceramics is a material that is formed from clay and hardened by burning. Artists use ceramics to create both functional objects and aesthetic sculptures. The glazes and burning techniques in ceramics make it possible to achieve different textures and colors - a great creative freedom for artists. In many cultures, ceramics are also used as a medium to tell stories or preserve cultural traditions.
In our exhibition “Fragility - burned from fire and earth”, you can experience the two different art forms in a unique symbiosis: the glass objects symbolize the lightness and transparency of life - the ceramic objects the earthiness and robustness of nature.Together they create a fascinating dialog between fragility and permanence.
